Refugees
In Maz’s world, climate change has caused drought, floods and extreme weather making large parts of the world uninhabitable. As a result millions of people are on the move looking for homes in different countries – like so many people forced from their homes today. These organisations give more information on refugees:
The Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is a leading charity working with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Founded in 1951 following the creation of the UN Refugee Convention, the Refugee Council exists to support and empower people who have fled conflict, violence and persecution in order to rebuild their lives here in the UK.
Refugee Action
Refugee Action helps refugees who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes, and then gets them the basic support they need to live again with dignity. Then Refugee Action helps them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK.
UNHCR
UNHCR leads international action to protect people forced to flee conflict and persecution and those denied a nationality.
